3W317K to taka trochę mieszanka oznaczeń Jelcza i SHL. Jelcz produkował podwozie z kabiną krótką oznaczane jako 317WK. Natomiast po zabudowie stawało się Jelczem-SHL 3W317-821 i tutaj już nie było oznaczania kabiny krótkiej.
